Rose Glass’ follow up to 2020’s Saint Maud will reportedly be released early in 2024 following a Sundance premiere.
Rose Glass made a searing cinematic debut with 2020’s
Saint Maud, a dark psychological tale that captivated audiences and marked Glass as a writer/director to watch (it was also a cover film for our magazine too. We’re proud of that).
For her follow-up feature, the filmmaker took to the US to make
Love Lies Bleeding, this time co-writing the film with Weronika Tofilska and working with a higher-profile cast, including Kristen Stewart, Ed Harris and Dave Franco.
Love Lies Bleeding shot in New Mexico back in the summer of last year, so we’ve been keeping an eye out for a while now for news of its release. Now, a social media post from
Solace Cinema has claimed that the film has been set for release early next year, following a premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. With Sundance taking place in January, we could be looking at a release in the first quarter of 2024, a release schedule that would fall in line with the way distributor, A24 tends to do things.
The end of Q1 normally sees A24 release a film it has aspirations for: this year saw
Beau is Afraid release around then, whilst last year it was Ti West’s
X. It’s looking like
Love Lies Bleeding will be that film on A24’s 2024 slate.
Love Lies Bleeding tells the story of ‘an aspiring bisexual bodybuilder in the late 1980s who moves to a small rural Nevada town from Oklahoma and falls madly in love with Kristen Stewart’s character who works at the local gym.’ We’ll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
