A24 releases trailer for The Whale, featuring Brendan Fraser

Catch a glimpse of the highly-anticipated A24 drama The Whale – starring Brendan Fraser – ahead of its release early next year.  There’s a lot to look forward to when it comes to the upcoming unveiling of Darren Aranofsky’s The Whale. The film is a significant release from A24, the indie studio who rarely put a foot wrong whilst always showcasing films rich in ideas. It also marks the next film helmed by Darren Aronofsky, who tends to be one of cinema’s most compelling voices and his latest film has already earned strong word of mouth from festival screenings. And then of course, there’s Brendan Fraser. Fraser has had a rocky time over the past few years but happily, is definitely on the comeback trail. Whilst his resurgence was perhaps thrown a little off-track by the cancellation of Batgirl in which he played a key role, the actor’s next two projects will hopefully put him squarely back in contention for leading roles where he surely belongs. Not only will he feature in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Flowers Of The Killer Moon but he also plays the lead role in The Whale.  The project, an adaptation of Samuel D. Hunter’s 2012 play, sees Fraser adorn himself with lots of prosthetics to ‘play a 600-pound middle-age recluse who tries to reconnect with his estranged 17-year-old daughter played by Sadie Sink.’ The film releases in the US in December but unfortunately, we have to wait until February to see it.
