A further film from Hayao Miyazaki looks on the cards, as he ā thankfully ā shows no sign of retiring after all. More here.
A big story coming out of the Toronto International Film Festival, with the news that legendary director Hayao Miyazaki might yet have more films to come.
It had been widely assumed that the Studio Ghibli legend would be wrapping up his career with the now-completed The Boy And The Heron, which is due for release this year. But on the red carpet in Toronto, the vice president of Studio Ghibli – Junichi Nishioka – has revealed to reporters that The Boy And The Heron actually isn’t Miyazaki’s final movie, and that he’s actively working on new ideas.
Given that amongst the films Miyazaki has given us are Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke, it’s pretty terrific news really. The 82-year old is still firing, and long may he continue to do so…
