The first teaser for Robert Eggers’ long-gestating vampire film has appeared online. Take a look at the Nosferatu trailer.
Robert Eggers has been working long and hard on his adaptation of Nosferatu, but we’ve finally got a first look at his suitably dark upcoming horror film. In fact, lucky audiences who headed to the cinema over the weekend to watchThe Bikeriders would have seen the trailer play before the main feature, but it’s only today that the trailer made its way online.
Take a look at the brand new Nosferatu trailer:
Eggers has been planning the film since 2015, after he released his debut feature The Witch (or The VVitch), but ended up making The Lighthouse and The Northman first. The film is a new adaptation of FW Murnau’s iconic 1922 film of the same name. Werner Herzog previously directed another adaptation of the film.
If you were hoping for a proper look at Dracula-esque Count Orlok, you’ll just have to wait a little longer. The teaser trailer keeps Bill Skarsgård’s Count mostly hidden, but if the actor’s work as Pennywise in IT is anything to go by, we’ll be in for something superbly disturbing yet again.
Eggers previously told Total Film that āyou can’t detect any Billā in Count Orlok.
Joining Skarsgård in the cast of Nosferatu are Lily-Rose Depp as the woman Count Orlok is obsessed with and Nicholas Hoult as her husband. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe and Emma Corrin are also among the cast.
Focus Features is distributing the film in the US while Universal are handling distribution in the UK. US peeps are getting the film on 25th December, while UK audiences have to wait until 1st January, 2025 to watch Nosferatu, but starting the year with a Robert Eggers horror film doesn’t sound too bad to us.
With a slew of excellent, critically acclaimed horror films in 2024, could awards bodies finally give them more consideration? A few thoughts.
Update: These are the kinds of updates we love to write. On 5th January, something remarkable happened. Demi Moore won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical Or Comedy for her performance in [...]
