Chris Rock headlines the voice cast of animated sequel Everybody Still Hates Chris, and here are the details.
Chris Rock attained superstardom following his second HBO stand-up special Bring The Pain in 1996. Hollywood beckoned, and he took supporting roles in the likes of Lethal Weapon 4 and Nurse Betty, as well as writing and directing feature films Down To Earth and Head Of State. After the much publicized incident at the Oscars two years ago, Rock released Netflix special Selective Outrage and co-starred in civil rights drama Rustin.
In 2005, autobiographical sitcom Everybody Hates Chris premiered on television. Broadcast on Channel 5 in the UK, the show portrays a semi-fictionalized version of Rockās childhood. Tyler James Williams portrayed a teenage Rock, alongside Terry Crews as father Julius, Tichina Arnold as mother Rochelle, Tequan Richmond as younger brother Drew, Imani Hakim as younger sister Tonya and Vincent Martella as Rockās school friend Greg.
The show proved to be popular and ran for eighty eight episodes across four seasons, and was nominated for several Emmy and Golden Globe awards.
An animated sequel series called Everybody Still Hates Chris is now in production for Comedy Central.
As in the original series, Rock will serve as narrator. Crews and Arnold will reprise their roles. Tim Johnson Jr will voice the young version of Rock, alongside new cast members Ozioma Akagha, Terrence Little Gardenhigh and Gunnar Sizemore.
Sanjay Shah, the co-showrunner of Apple TV musical animated sitcom Central Park, serves as showrunner and lead writer. Ali Roy, who co-created the original series with Rock, serves as executive producer alongside Rock, Shah, Michael Rotenberg and Dave Becky.
Popular American sitcom Married With Children is also set to be rebooted in animated form, but, aside from the initial story a few years ago saying the original cast ā including Ed OāNeill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate and David Garrison ā were onboard, there have been no further updates.
