Dreamworks’ newest film is a heartwarming tale of a robot becoming one with nature. Watch the first The Wild Robot trailer here.
We have been feasting on amazing animated films of late. Just look at this year’s Oscar nominated animations and you’re faced with a thrilling variety of styles and stories.
Dreamworks have just released the first trailer for their latest animation. The Wild Robot is based on a novel of the same name by Peter Brown and the film finds a robot shipwrecked on an island.
Take a look at The Wild Robot trailer.
Well, that looks fantastic, doesn’t it? While most of the trailer is without dialogue, the film has a stacked voice cast. Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Kit Connor and Stephanie Hsu, with Mark Hamill, Matt Berry and Ving Rhames all lend their voices to characters in this heartwarming film.
The Wild Robot is directed by Chris Sanders, who also helmed hits like the first How To Train Your Dragon and The Croods for Dreamworks.
Here’s the official synopsis: The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short — that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.
The Wild Robot, which was first published in 2016, is the first in a trilogy of novels. Sequels The Wild Robot Escapes and The Wild Robot Protects were published in 2017 and 2023 respectively, so if the film adaptation does well, there is source material for sequels.
There’s no official release date for The Wild Robot yet, but there is an Untitled Dreamworks Animation Film scheduled for release on 20th September. This is almost certainly The Wild Robot, but that’s not official yet.
