Comedian and writer Sarah Kendall has confirmed that Frayed has come to an end after two series.
If you havenāt had the pleasure, Frayed is a wonderful comedy drama written by and starring storytelling comedian Sarah Kendall.
It followed a middle class Australian woman called Sammy, who is forced to return to her homeland and confront her past. As she attempts to reconnect with her mother and slips back into a childishly antagonistic relationship with her brother, she begins to revisit the events that caused her to flee as a teenager.
The show was beautifully written, full of warmth, pathos and laugh out loud jokes. Kendall starred alongside Diane Morgan, Ben Mingay and Kerry Armstrong. There had been a real thirsting for more episodes.
Yet, as youāve probably guessed from the title of this very article, it is not to be.
Series two was broadcast almost two years ago and since then there had been no updates until recently, when Kendall confirmed on X/Twitter that the show will not be returning for a third series. This is especially sad as the second series ended on a cliffhanger that will now never be resolved.
In a reply to an enquiry about the status of the show, Kendall confirmed it was over, with the plug now pulled on further episodes. Itās not as if she wasnāt planning more, either. In a further reply, she briefly outlined her plans for the third series:
āI had planned for S3 a time jump of 5 years. Dan survived that night but left town and Sammy ended up going to jail for the murder. They found the body. Series 3 would begin with her release from jail, Jim picking her up.ā
Both series of Frayed are available to watch on Sky Max, and well, well worth seeking out. Itās going to take one hell of a fan campaign to persuade Sky to change its mind, sadly.
