The fourth instalment of the Bridget Jones series could be delayed for up to two years due to ongoing strike action.
While the current strike action shows no signs of abating, there have been myriad reports of films being shut down or delayed.
It seems the latest is the fourth Bridget Jones film. Helen Fielding’s creation has headlined three feature films so far – 2001’s Bridget Jones’ Diary, 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and 2016’s Bridget Jones’ Baby.
The fourth film has been in development for several years, with Fielding frequently assuring fans that she was working on the script.
It seems that script was closer to production than we thought, but now the window is closing for star Renee Zellweger to film the sequel. Zellweger’s busy schedule means that she only has a short amount of time to shoot, but with the strike ongoing, that time is rapidly evaporating.
It is not clear who might be directing the sequel, or if any co-writers worked on the script with Fielding.
