Christian Bale is set to star in a Netflix remake of Bride Of Frankenstein, according to reports ā Maggie Gyllenhaal will direct.
Netflix is definitely getting into the
Frankenstein business. Not content with one high-budget cinematic reimagining of the iconic horror monster, the streaming platform has reportedly now green-lit another. Production Weekly (via
World of Reel) is reporting that Maggie Gyllenhaal will helm a remake of
Bride Of Frankenstein, James Whaleās 1935 classic horror sequel.
Gyllenhaalās project joins
Guillermo del Toroās Frankenstein at Netflix and although we have very little to go on here, it doesnāt look at this stage like the two films will be connected. The del Toro project is said to feature Andrew Garfield and Oscar Isaac, whilst Gyllenhaalās take on
Bride Of Frankenstein will feature Christian Bale and Peter Sarsgaard.
Little else is known about the project at the moment, although Gyllenhaal is certainly an in-demand director following the critical acclaim garnered by her 2021 directorial debut,
The Lost Daughter. The film is set to begin shooting in 2024. Weāll bring you more on this one as we hear it, including the casting for the title role.
