Things finally look set to swing into gear for the continuation of the Star Wars saga, as a new feature film gets ready for production.
Itās been a rough few years if youāre a fan of
Star Wars films. On the small screen, thereās been some successes (and some letdowns) but at least thereās been something to watch, good, bad or otherwise. In terms of theatrical releases, weāve seen a string of projects get announced and scrapped.
Finally though, there looks to be some kind of momentum. Three new
Star Wars films have been announced and
World of Reel has spotted a production listing that confirms the next project,
Star Wars: New Jedi Order will begin shooting next April ahead of a May 2026 release.
Thereās a synopsis thatās appeared too:
āSet roughly 15 years after Rey’s victory over Palpatine and the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The sequel delves into Reyās courageous endeavor to restore the Jedi Order, where she assumes the role of a mentor to two promising young students—a girl and a boy. As their training progresses, it becomes evident that the girl possesses an extraordinary abilities, destined to emerge as the future leader.ā
The last
Star Wars film to appear in a cinema was 2019ās
Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker. Whilst it was undoubtedly great to see
Star Wars on a big screen along with some great moments, there was plenty that fans didnāt warm to and the series has been on hiatus ever since.
Still, the next film has Steven Knight is writing while Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is handling directing duties so thereās hope yet. Weāll keep you posted as we hear more.
