The stars of Amazonās My Fault, Nicole Wallace and Gabriel Guevara, on the importance of familiarity and intimacy coaches during intimate scenes.
My Fault (or
Culpa Mia) is a Spanish romance film recently released on Amazon Prime Video. Directed and written by Domingo González and based on the story by Mercedes Ron, it follows Noah (Wallace) as she moves away from her friends and home town to move in with her motherās wealthy new husband. She proceeds to form a complicated relationship with her new stepbrother, Nick (Guevara).
Wallace and Guevara have known each other for a few years, and worked together previously on teen drama series
Skam España. It turns out their familiarity with each other was a huge help when filming some of the more flirtatious and intimate scenes in
My Fault. Hereās what they had to sayā¦
Were you friends before you started shooting or did it come after?
NW: We didnāt like each other at all⦠(laughs). No, we knew each other since we were little babies in
Skam.
GG: Well, not little babies. We were two or three years younger than now. Or four?
NW: Four. [It was] 2017, 2018? We were 15 or 16 years old. Weāve known each other a long time.
Does being friends and trusting each other help when filming the more sensual scenes?
NW: A lot. Itās been super easy for me to be able to not worry about ending up with a person I donāt know at all, whom I may not like. I can stay calm and think āOkay, itās Gaby.ā Iāve known him for a long time and we get along super well. We have chemistry and I trust him. Iām not shy around him, etc.
GG: We come from a place of trust, so when we get in front of the camera to try new thingsā¦
NW: Easy peasy!
GG: Super easy.
Is your chemistry together natural or did you work on it throughout filming?
NW: Both. We had a wonderful intimacy coach called Maitane who helped us with the most difficult aspects. Things weāve never done, sex scenes on camera, which in the end is very different. What you see on camera and what can be seen on set. A lot of things that I didnāt know how to manage.
My Fault is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.
