Florence Pugh gets frank about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and joining projects where others aren’t pulling their weight.
A really great profile piece covering Florence Pugh has popped up over at
Time, in which the actor talks about a number of things, including balancing her Marvel Cinematic Universe duties with indie work, and throwing a little shade at an unnamed production which won’t take too much detective work to uncover.
Fans of Pugh’s stellar indie work may have been a little dismayed when she first joined the MCU, worrying that the Marvel Machine would gobble up her time with regular appearances in films and TV shows. But with films like
The Wonder and
A Good Person on her resume from the last year, her commitment to smaller, dramatic projects has remained steadfast.
Still, Pugh has revealed that some of her compatriots in the indie scene weren’t entirely happy with her choice either, saying, “they were like, great, now she’s gone forever … And I’m like, ‘no, I’m working as hard as I used to work. I’ve always done back-to-back movies. It’s just people are watching them now. You just have to be a bit more organised with your schedule.”
From where we’re sitting, Pugh certainly seems to have struck the right balance and given the magnetic performances she put in to
The Wonder and
A Good Person, there’s no doubting her commitment to getting these projects made and ensuring they meet their artistic potential.
However, the actor also had some choice words for those who don’t put in the required toil, throwing some shade in the direction of an unnamed film which she said ‘fell apart’ whilst shooting. The star of last year’s
Don’t Worry, Darling (pictured) didn’t name the project but said, “a whole film set, it’s everybody making a huge effort because they want to be there, and if someone doesn’t want to be there or if someone isn’t pulling their weight, you can feel it. The film feels wrong.”
Pugh came in for lots of praise in the above film although not everybody involved was singled out in such positive fashion. The profile piece is well worth checking out, as are her recent indie efforts.
