We are destined to experience Fast & Furious films until the end of time, it seems ā but the spin-offs must wait.
Even now the end has been announced for the mainline
Fast & Furious series, it hasnāt. Not really. At the filmās premiere, star and franchise magnate, Vin Diesel announced that the two part finale might just be three parts after all. Now, Diesel has piped up again to state that the all-female spin-off heās been developing for a while is still coming, but is now part of a multitude of spin-offs.
Speaking to
Variety, Diesel said āI started developing the female spinoff… in 2017 with other spinoffs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spinoffs.”
āAll the spinoffs.ā
Weāre not sure how we feel about that, especially if the
Fast finale does become a three-parter that stretches throughout the entirety of this decade, meaning weāll probably be seeing ā
all the spinoffsā engulfing the 2030s, ending by the turn of the decade just in time for the inevitable reboot of the mainline series throughout the 2040s.
Frankly, weāre not sure if we have the stamina for it, but weāll try. After all, if you canāt try for your family, then who can you try for?
Fast X is in cinemas at the moment and is enjoying a pretty big opening although itās still got some way to go before making a profit for Universal given its huge reported production budget. Still, Universal can expect to make plenty more piles of cash from
Fast X over the next few years as the film moves between various platforms.
In the meantime, Iāll be going back and rewatching my favourite, the first one, which was basically
Point Break with cars instead of surfboards. Or maybe Iāll just rewatch
Point Break.
Weāll bring you more on the upcoming spinoffs as we hear about them.
