The next TRON film will shoot in Canada a month earlier than originally planned, it is being reported.
One project that seems to have beaten the onset of the writersā strike is the third film in the
TRON series. After a decade of false dawns and stalled starts, it seems everything is finally in place, including a production date according to
Collider which spotted the projectās appearance on the Film and Television Industry Allianceās
production list.
It looks like the film is set to begin shooting in July in Vancouver, Canada. We donāt know exactly what the movie will be about, or if it will even be connected to 2010ās
TRON: Legacy, a flawed but underrated sequel to 1982ās
TRON. We do know that the current title appears to be
TRON: Ares and that Jared Leto is set to star.
The gap between
Legacy and
TRON: Ares will likely be around 15 years when the third film releases, still substantially less than the 28 year hiatus between the original
TRON and its eventual sequel. Still, we wonder if Disney might have waited too long to pull the trigger on this one and given the internetās general trolling of
Morbius, the last big budget film that was marketed on Jared Letoās shoulders, whether the company has made the right creative choices here.
By dithering for years, Disney has lost the undeniable positive of retaining TRON:
Legacy director Jospeh Kosinski through its indecision, not to mention losing the talents of Daft Punk, composers of
Legacyās incredible score. Joachim Rønning is in to helm the film and time will tell if the third entry in the
TRON can live up to its predecessors.
