Everything Everywhere All At Once wins big at the Oscars, on a feel-good night with the right type of newsworthy headlines.
Last night marked the 95th Academy Awards and as was predicted, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s multiverse-spanning drama
Everything Everywhere All At Once picked up the lionās share of the awards. Given that the previous yearās ceremony made headlines for all of the wrong reasons with āthe slapā incident that reverberated around the world, this yearās awards if nothing else, have a feel-good element to them that marks a positive step for American Asian representation onscreen.
Netflixās
All Quiet On The Western Front ā a big winner at the recent BAFTAs ā scored a clutch of awards too, making it the companyās most garlanded film to date at the Oscars, although the Best Picture award eluded would elude Netflix once more. As is the way with such things, there were of course several films of great renown that walked away empty-handed including
Elvis, The Banshees of Inisherin, The Fablemans and
TÁR.
Of course, the silly thing about these awards shows is that any number of superb films never even get nominated so letās not forget films like
Till, The Woman King, Nope and of course,
Plane (which, in truth, isnāt eligible until next year anyway).
Hereās the full list of winners below.
