Kristen Stewart will make her feature directorial debut with The Chronology Of Water, here are the first details.
From turns in the wonderful Panic Room and Zathura: A Space Adventure to Mary Stuart Masterson’s terrific indie drama The Cake Eaters, Kristen Stewart has had a hugely eclectic career even before her huge success in the Twilight franchise.
Subsequently, she had continued down that path, refusing to succumb to typecasting or easy roles, starring in the likes of Still Alice, Personal Shopper, Seberg and, most recently, her Oscar nominated turn as Princess Diana in Spencer (pictured).
Now, she is moving behind the camera for The Chronology Of Water.
The film tells the story of Lidia Yuknavitch, “a young woman who finds her voice through the written word and her salvation as a swimmer – ultimately becoming a triumphant teacher, mother and a singular modern writer. A survivor’s story and a sexually abrasive and honest coming of age, the film is a physical memory wash of Yuknavitch’s inner life”.
Imogen Poots will star in the film, with other cast members yet to be announced.
Stewart will direct and co-write the screenplay with Andy Mingo, based on Yuknavitch’s memoir.
She previously wrote and directed the short film Come Swim, which screened at both Cannes and Sundance.
The Chronology Of Water will begin production soon, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
