Reports state that there will be a fresh entry in the long-standing Night Of The Living Dead series created by George A Romero.
Talk about timely. Arriving for Halloween, we’re hearing that there is going to be another film in George A Romero’s beloved Night Of The Living Dead series.
Romero shot the original Night Of The Living Dead in black and white back in 1968 on a shoestring budget. Nonetheless, it became a sensation, becoming the root for all modern zombie films, not to mention being a fine addition to the social thriller genre, as well as simply being a great horror flick too.
Of course, Romero is sadly no longer with us but the series is set to be resurrected, just like the very zombies that it features. Deadline is reporting that Nikyatu Jusu and LaToya Morgan are set to direct and write the new project respectively, with Romero’s Sanibel Films involved too. Romero’s wife, Christine, will be representing the late filmmaker and will have input, with Vertigo and Westbrook Studios also involved.
Village Roadshow and FilmNation are co-representing the project at the upcoming American Film Market, and we can see this one getting snapped up pretty quickly, meaning we’ll soon know how wide a release to expect. Whilst no casting has yet been announced, that creative team of Jusu and Morgan is already compelling: Morgan has worked on The Walking Dead, whilst Jusu’s upcoming Nanny won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize earlier this year.
