After several years on the shelf, Apple has picked up the Jennifer Lawrence-headlined Causeway and will release the PTSD drama in November.
We learned back in July that Apple had picked up Causeway, a Jennifer Lawrence drama that had lain dormant for a couple of years. The film had sat with its former distributor A24 for a long time without a release date, having reportedly undergone several reshoots and production and release delays. There were also stories circulating about a test screening that didnāt go particularly well, not to mention the filmās original producers Scott Rudin and Eli Bush, reportedly being removed from the credits.
Whilst the full behind the scenes story won’t be made public any time soon, Apple stepped in to purchase the movie and has announced a November 4th release date for the film.
The plot of the film is said to centre around the issue of PTSD, focusing on an ‘intimate portrait of a soldier struggling to adjust to her life after returning home to New Orleans following a tour in Afghanistan.’
Whilst the filmās status has been the subject of conjecture and rumour, itās worth noting that early word of mouth for Causeway has been good and if that proves to be the case, Apple may have gotten itself a shrewd deal. You can catch the film when it arrives on Apple TV+ and in select cinemas on November 4th. Weāll post the trailer below too. Like this, in factā¦
