Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis is finally set to go before the cameras, and the final cast members have been confirmed.
Self financed passion projects are always a risky venture. Most recently, we got to see Michael Flatley have a go at a spy thriller in
Blackbird.
This project we’re talking about now though looks set to be a slightly classier affair. Francis Ford Coppola is finally bringing
Megalopolis to the screen after two decades and it’s costing him over $100m to do so.
The longline of
Megalopolis reads as follows:
The fate of Rome haunts a modern world unable to solve its own social problems in this epic story of political ambition, genius and dangerous love.
Dustin Hoffman,
SNL castmember Chloe Fineman,
Licorice Pizza’s Isabelle Kusman, D.B. Sweeney and newcomer Bailey Ives are the latest additions to the cast.
They join an already star studded ensemble that includes Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker and Nathalie Emmanuel as the three leads. Completing the cast are Jon Voight, Coppola’s
Apocalypse Now discovery Laurence Fishburne,
The Godfather’s Talia Shire, Shia LaBeou, Jason Schwartzman, Grace Vanderwaal, Kathryn Hunter, Aubrey Plaza, James Remar and Shia LaBeouf.
Coppola will write, direct, produce and self finance the film.
Megalopolis will begin production this winter in Georgia, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
