Nothing Compares will chart Sinead O’Connor’s meteoric rise to fame, and here’s the first trailer for the film.
Nothing Compares will follow the Irish artist Sinead O’Connor’s rise following her game-changing cover of Prince’s Nothing Compares 2 U and her subsequent fall from public grace, after she ripped up a photo of Pope John Paul II in 1992.
The official synopsis for the documentary reads as follows:
The story of Sinéad O’Connor’s rise to worldwide fame, and how her iconoclastic personality resulted in her exile from the pop mainstream. Focusing on prophetic words and deeds across a six-year period (1987-1993), the film reflects on the legacy of this fearless trailblazer, through a contemporary feminist lens.
It will focus not only on the music, but her activism and how her exile affected her. It is tipped for an Oscar nomination already. Might be good, this.
Nothing Compares will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 7th October. Watch the trailer below:
