The Lost King will dramatize the true story of royal remains discovered in Leicester, hereās the first trailer.
Despite forever being synonymous with Alan Partridge, Steve Coogan has an impressive CV when it comes to films. 24 Hour Party People, The Look Of Love, Philomena and the wonderful Stan And Ollie all spring to mind.
Now, heās headlining a comedy based on a true story that hit the headlines back in 2012. The official synopsis reads as follows:
In 2012, having been lost for over 500 years, the remains of King Richard III were discovered beneath a car park in Leicester. The search had been orchestrated by an amateur historian, Philippa Langley, whose unrelenting research had been met with incomprehension by her friends and family and with scepticism by experts and academics. The Lost King is the life-affirming true story of a woman who refused to be ignored and who took on the countryās most eminent historians, forcing them to think again about one of the most controversial kings in Englandās history.
Sally Hawkins stars as historian Phillipa Langley, with Coogan co-starring as her husband John alongside Harry Lloyd, who plays King Richard III.
Itās also a Philomena reunion, as Stephen Frears is directing from a script co-written by Coogan and Jeff Pope. It is produced by BBC Films and Cooganās own production company Baby Cow Productions.
The Lost King will be released in the UK on the 7th October, watch the trailer below:
