Ezra Miller takes the first step in an attempt to salvage their career which has become mired in controversy for some time now.
Itās been around a week since
it was reported that Warner Bros was intent on not replacing Ezra Miller in the lead role of
The Flash, the upcoming DC Extended Universe film that has been repeatedly delayed. Miller has been struggling with a number of controversial legal issues for some time now and their public image has taken a mighty hit. In addition, Millerās seemingly erratic behaviour was reportedly seen as especially problematic by Warner Bros because the star would need to be front and centre in the necessary press tour for the film.
Despite all of this, Millerās central role within the movie ruled out the possibility of recasting them and reshooting their role, so it was reported that Warner Brosā preferred solution was for Miller to apologise for their actions and publicly seek help in an attempt to redress the public relations damage that has already been done to
The Flash. It seems that the studio has succeeded in navigating this path so far, with Miller finally breaking their silence and making a public apology.
The short statement by the actor reads: āHaving recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I want to apologise to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behaviour. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.ā
The studio, and those concerned for Millerās mental health ā and just as importantly, the people affected by their behaviour ā will be fervently hoping that the actor benefits from the help that they clearly need. Given all that has happened regarding Millerās actions, the actor is going to be under an incredible amount of scrutiny ahead of the filmās scheduled release next summer.
As things stand,
The Flash remains on the release schedules.
