Director Justin Lin will be tackling a live adaptation of an anime for his first project since his unexpected departure from Fast X. As a director with proven commercial instincts, Justin Lin was never going to be kicking his heels at home for long following his sudden and unexpected departure from The Fast & Furious franchise. Lin had actually started production on the film Fast X when reported friction with the series’ star, Vin Diesel saw him exit the project abruptly, joining Dwayne Johnson as another Fast collaborator who has left the films due to ā€˜differences of opinion’ with Diesel. Sony has swooped in to secure Lin’s services, signing him up to helm a live action adaptation of the anime and webcomic series, One Punch Man.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lin, who helmed five of the films in The Fast & Furious franchise, is currently in talks to take on the role of director for the project. The hero in One Punch Man is ā€˜a superhero named Saitama. He has the power to defeat any foe with a single punch, but soon he grows bored and seeks out a bigger challenge.’ Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, the duo behind Jumanji: The Next Level and Venom have written the script whilst Ari Arad, producing veteran of many a superhero film, is also on board.
