The mysterious new trailer for Jordan Peele’s Nope contains all kinds of tantalising hints, not to mention a release date too.
Since Jordan Peele’s last film as director – 2019’s Us – was released to further acclaim following his Oscar win for Get Out, we’ve been looking forward to his next directorial project. It’s entitled Nope, and was announced last year.
It will be distributed by Universal, as with Peele’s last two pictures. Production wrapped in December and the story has been shrouded in secrecy, until now at least. We did enjoy the first trailer’s reference to the dawn of cinema though, and the way Peele cleverly entwined that moment with both modern Hollywood, and his lead characters.
The film’s full trailer has just launched and there’s a little more here in the way of plot details than we saw in the first trailer and perhaps more than we were expecting, given that this is a Jordan Peele film.
There are definitely one or two moments in the trailer that suggest the filmmaker may be taking this flick into the terrifying realms of extraterrestrial abduction and we’re wondering if there may be a rather large story swerve coming somewhere along the line.
The cast includes the Oscar-winning Daniel Kaluuya, who worked with Peele on Get Out, and has gone on to do all kinds of great work since. There’s also Keke Palmer, Stephen Yeun and Michael Wincott also featuring.
We know that Peele has shot in the 65mm IMAX format which means the film should look spectacular, whilst we also now have a release date of 12th August 2022. We’ll bring you more as we hear it with Nope, but with the main trailer now released it’s simply a case of hunkering down and waiting for that August release date.
