Alexander Skarsgard will star opposite Dane DeHaan in the poaching drama The Tiger, set to be directed by Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi.
Alexander Skarsgard is currently starring in Robert Egger’s acclaimed The Northman, in which there’s all kinds of justice being sought and served. If you haven’t seen it yet, we’d definitely recommend it, not least for Skarsgard’s searing turn as the title character. It looks like justice will be on the menu in the actor’s next film too, although it may come in something of a different flavour.
It has been announced that Skarsgard will next be teaming up with Ukrainian filmmaker Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi to make The Tiger, a drama about a team formed to protect tigers from unscrupulous poachers. According to Deadline, the film will be ‘set in snowy far east Russia in the late 90s, the feature follows a group of men — referred to as the Tiger Team — who work to protect endangered tigers from poachers and logging operations. The story follows Vanzin (Skarsgard), the Team’s leader whose sense of duty is tested when he’s charged with hunting down and exterminating a tiger that killed a poacher in self-defence.’
Dane DeHaan will be playing Kanchuga, a young environmental scientist and new member of the group. Also, the project has none other than Darren Aronofsky on board as a producer, whilst Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B is involved. Given some of the talent involved, you can certainly consider our interest piqued with this one. We’ll let you know as we hear more.
