A rough production window has emerged for the long-awaited live-action return of the mighty He-Man in a new Masters Of The Universe film.
Fans of the
Masters Of The Universe franchise have been waiting for He-Man to return to the silver screen ever since 1987’s
Masters Of The Universe movie ended. After years and years of stalled starts and false dawns, Netflix is now in control of the rights and things have finally moved into gear. The film’s directors, Aaron and Adam Nee have been doing the press rounds for their current film,
The Lost City. In the process, they’ve revealed to
Screen Rant that their upcoming take on
He-Man and his colourful compatriots won’t shoot until next year.
“It’s coming along great, it’ll be next year. Coming right off of
Lost City was too tight, it’s such a huge beast of a movie that it needs real prep time. So we’re working on it now and working towards it starting next spring”, they said.
Netflix’s
Masters Of The Universe animated series, with Kevin Smith as showrunner, has given fans a taste of animated action, much like the original cartoon. However, a live action feature has proved much harder to get off the ground over the years. Fans have been patiently waiting, and we hope that Netflix’s well-publicised struggles don’t have any impact on the film’s production.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe as we hear it.
