A third Sicario film has been written, and rewritten, and is still something that actor Josh Brolin is keep to get moving.
2015’s Sicario, directed by Denis Villeneuve, to this day has one of the tensest scenes involving basically a queue of traffic in modern cinema. It’s a terrific movie, and its follow up – 2018’s Sicario: Day Of The Soldado – wasn’t too shabby either. Stefano Sollima directed that one, with Villeneuve moving onto the likes of Blade Runner 2049.
One person who links both films is actor Josh Brolin, and he’s been on the promotional trail for his latest project, Outer Range. And while chatting to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s admitted that plans remain for the previously-teased third Sicario movie.
Turns out that, in spite of four years and counting since the last movie, those plans for whatever Sicario 3 turns out to be are still active. “It’s very much at the forefront of all of our minds”, he confirmed.
“It’s been written and it’s been rewritten. So it’s out there. We think it deserves a third one if we can make it in the way that we want to make it”.
Whether they get to is unclear at the moment. Somewhere along the line, the decision presumably rests with parent studio and financier Lionsgate. At the very least, there’s work going on. But nothing yet that’s got this one over the line.
