Peacemaker star John Cena is set to star in live action/animation hybird film Coyote Vs Acme, also featuring Looney Tunes star Wile E Coyote.
John Cena is making the jump from the darkly humorous
Peacemaker series to the equally funny yet family-friendly world of
Looney Tunes. Heās set to star with iconic (and ever unfortunate) character Wile E. Coyote in
Coyote Vs Acme, where Wile E. decides to sue Acme for their defective products that have caused him so much harm over the years.
Representing the animated character is a down-on-his-luck attorney who takes on the case, not knowing that his former boss is representing Acme Industries. Cena is playing the aforementioned boss, which gives him the wonderful opportunity to play comically evil. The film is another one that combines live-action with animation, which has become increasingly popular with Warner Bros in the last couple of years.
Tom And Jerry and
Space Jam: A New Legacy were not considered critical successes, but Cenaās talents are sure to bring some fun to
Coyote Vs Acme.
One thing his new project and
Peacemaker have in common is James Gunn. Cenaās titular character made his first on-screen appearance in Gunnās
The Suicide Squad, and he will be producing
Coyote Vs Acme alongside
Tom And Jerry producer Chris DeFaria. In the directorās chair is Dave Green, who has previously helmed
Earth To Echo and
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows.
The script is based on a humorous article from the New Yorker named
Coyote V. Acme by Ian Frazier. Adapting the article for the big screen is Samy Burch, who wrote the latest draft script, with the film set to enter production in late March. Filming is due to take place in New Mexico.
Aside from
Peacemaker, Cena has also had prominent roles in
F9: The Fast Saga and comedy
Blockers.
Weāll bring you more news on
Coyote Vs Acme as we hear it.
