Orson Welles’s classic Citizen Kane heads to the 4K disc format in the UK, courtesy of a posh-looking new boxset: more details here.
There still aren’t that many vintage releases that have made it to the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray thus far, and that continues to be a real shame. Some of them would surely benefit from the care and attention that’s lavished on premium physical media releases.
On the upside then, Orson Welles’ lauded classic
Citizen Kane is coming to the format. In the US, it’s part of the Criterion Collection range of new 4K releases. Here in the UK, we’re getting the film released on 4K via Universal/Warner. We’re assuming it’ll be the same transfer at least, although what extra features will carry across remains to be seen. We’re certainly getting a posh-looking boxset for the film.
And what we do know is that the release has been scheduled for December 13
