Streaming giant Netflix looks like it’s on the verge of one of its biggest ever acquisitions, with the rights to make films and series based on Roald Dahl books at stake.
Having already stumped up what’s believed to be a nine figure sum for the rights to make animated productions from the late author’s work, Netflix is now reportedly looking to buy the works of Roald Dahl entire.
The streamer’s current deal lasts for three years, but a new report suggests that it’s now in the running to buy the entire Roald Dahl business. All, of course, with a view to making new films and TV shows from primarily his children’s books.
The Roald Dahl Estate has been incredibly protective of the rights to his books, but this presumably would remove any such obstacles going forward.
A deal hasn’t been struck as of yet, but the price tag could potentially end up over the billion mark, reading between the assorted lines. When we get further news on this, we’ll let you know…
