Despite heavy rumours to the contrary, a new poster for the film seems to confirm that Venom: There Will Be Carnage is still set for October.
Hereās the latest update on a story of a moving release date. A new promotional poster has seemingly put an end to the buzz regarding the upcoming
Venom sequel being delayed for a fourth time. Conflicting rumours were being reported last week, but with the release of the new poster stating an October 15th release, it seems that Sony is going to stick with plans for a 2021 release, presumably meaning that its other
Spider-Man spin-off,
Morbius, will keep its early 2021 release window too.
Of course, all of this could yet change, but weāll keep you posted as we hear more.

We’re beginning to lose count of just how many times the upcoming Sony Pictures
Venom sequel,
Let There Be Carnage has been delayed. The movie, which was shot back in 2019, was supposed to arrive in October of last year, then it was June of this year, then September, then October and now it looks like it won’t be with us this year at all. Instead, Sony is reportedly set to push the film into January 2022, where it will likely take the spot of
Morbius, the other
Spider-Man related movie they have finished and waiting to release.
As a sequel,
Let There Be Carnage has a greater chance of resonating with audiences than the Jared Leto-starring vampire origin tale,
Morbius. That’s a film that may find it trickier to entice people in this difficult climate (given that it is the character’s first screen appearance).
It’s easy to sympathise with Sony over the difficulties it faces here: with no streaming platform of its own to benefit from, the studio is leaning heavily into theatrical releases in a very uncertain environment and as such, has elected to play it safe once more. It’s likely that studio executives will be watching the exclusive theatrical release of Marvel’s
Shang-Chi And The Legend of the Ten Rings very carefully to discern whether a cinematic release for the
Venom in a few months will be feasible.
