Josh Gad confirms that the new Honey I Shrunk The Kids movie is very much alive and well.
Pre-pandemic, a brand new film in the Honey I Shrunk The Kids series of movies was pretty much a given. Rick Moranis was set to come out of retirement to return to the franchise, and Josh Gad was set to star in the new film, going by the name of Shrunk.
However, when the world went into lockdown, the plans for the movie obviously altered, and nothing really has been heard of the project since. Well, until now at least. Josh Gad has been chatting to Collider about an assortment of projects, and this was one of them. And he’s confirmed that it’s still very much alive. “Fingers crossed think we’re going to hopefully be shooting early next year. That is the status right now”, he told the outlet, with one word of caution. “Now the status is ever changing but we’re all feeling really confident about it”.
A director for Shrunk hasn’t been confirmed to our knowledge, but the report was that Joe Johnston – who helmed the original – would return for this one.
As we hear more on it, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, it looks like the absolute earliest we could see the finished film is the end of next year. And even that feels on the ambitious side…
