The line-up for Venice Film Festival has been announced with many high profile films such as Spencer and Last Night In Soho due to premiere.
Venice Film Festival is known for not only itās prestigious line-up of the best in art cinema, but also a number of high profile Hollywood film premieres, often starting the path to awards season. It was at last years festival that eventual Best Picture winner
Nomadland premiered.
As the festival gears up for the 78th edition, they today announced the full schedule. A number of expected films, such as
Parallel Mothers (aka
Madres Paralelas) appear, but there are also some notable absences. Nothing quite as strange as
Clifford The Big Red Dog turning up at TIFF, but notable all the same.
The two most notable absences are the Ana De Armas film
Blonde, focussed on the life of Marilyn Monroe, based on the book Joyce Carol Oate as well as Ridley Scottās hotly anticipated
House Of Gucci. The team behind
House Of Gucci have confirmed the film is not yet finished and would not be ready in time for the festival.
Blonde however was expected by many to debut in 2020, so many are wondering why it does not appear in the line-up.
So what are the lucky festival goers getting to see at the lido this year? Scott is premiering his other new release
The Last Duel, Kristen Stewart led Princess Diana biopic
Spencer will be in competition, Edgar Wrightās second film of the year
Last Night In Soho will premiere at the festival ahead of itās TIFF screening, Maggie Gyllenhaalās directorial debut
The Lost Daughter will appear, as well as Denis Villeneuveās
Dune,
Parallel Mothers from Pedro Almodovar and postponed from last year, the long awaited sequel
Halloween Kills.
You can take a look at the full line-up at the
official festival website.
