It looks like weāll be getting Keanu Reeves versus Pennywise the Clown in the next instalment of the action franchise, John Wick.
Thereās lots happening with the
John Wick franchise at the moment as the series readjusts itself to deal with the ongoing pandemic. The planned fourth instalment of
John Wick was recently delayed by a year to late 2022 and will reportedly shoot back to back with
John Wick 5. Now it seems that the next film at least, has found its antagonist in the form of Bill Skarsgard.
Whilst Skarsgardās casting or role havenāt yet been confirmed, weād bet one of those shiny marker medals that the actor, famous for portraying the evil clown Pennywise in
IT, will be showing up as the foil to Keanu Reevesā taciturn assassin.
With other casting including Donnie Yen (
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Shamier Anderson (
Stowaway) and Japanese-British popstar Rina Sawayama, Skarsgardās casting seems to fit the space for a villainous character, especially as it has been announced that Donnie Yen will be playing an old friend of Wickās.
Production on the film is set to start this summer in Germany, France and Japan.
Despite
IT being his most recognisable role, Skarsgard has been plying his trade away from franchise cinema for a while, including some small screen projects including
Castle Rock and also on several indie films which are set to release this year, including
Naked Singularity with John Boyega. Weāre certainly keen to see what he brings to the
John Wick franchise, and will keep you updated as we hear more.
