The real-life story Rodney & Sheryl depicts the bizarre tale of when a serial killer made it onto a TV dating show.
Netflix has shelled out for Ian McCallister McDonaldās Black List script,
Rodney & Sheryl, as part of a package to bring the project onto the streaming platform. That package includes Anna Kendrick who will star in the film, and Chlow Ukuno making her feature debut as director.
The story itself is one of those strange than fiction types charting the fortunes of Cheryl Bradshaw, a dating show contestant in 1970s America who was matched up with Rodney Alcala, a serial killer who had already murdered five victims at the time of the show. He would go on to murder an estimated 130 people. Alcala had already been convicted of attempted murder at the time he appeared on the show but got on anyway because of relaxed background checks.
The film itself is said to revolve around the events of the dating show itself. It certainly sounds interesting, although Black List scripts have had mixed fortunes in achieving success when they eventually get to the big screen. Weāll bring you more news on this one as we hear it.
