Millie Bobby Brownās sibling sleuth will return alongside Henry Cavillās Sherlock Holmes for an Enola Holmes sequel, itās been confirmed.
Netflix has confirmed a follow-up is coming to last year’s entertaining Enola Holmes. The original film proved to be quite the hit for Netflix, capitalising on the wave of general appreciation for the film’s stars, Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill. Both of whom, of course, also have their own popular Netflix series in the form of Stranger Things and The Witcher respectively.
With the first film clearly doing strong numbers and seemingly clear of the rights issues that dogged its production, a follow-up seemed like an obvious next move. Now, Netflix has taken the plunge and announced that a sequel is in the works.
The first film was originally produced by Legendary, who had intended for the film to receive a worldwide theatrical release. However, when the pandemic put paid to those plans, Legendary sold the production to Netflix, who now seems to have the rights to continue the franchise.
The official Netflix account had this to say, as well as announcing the return of Brown, Cavill and director, Harry Bradbeer and writer Jack Thorne:
āThe sequel is afoot! The adventure continues as Millie Bobby Brown & Henry Cavill return to the world of Enola Holmes, reteaming with director Harry Bradbeer & writer Jack Thorne on a second film based on Nancy Springerās book series about Sherlock Holmesā brilliant sister.”
No word as yet on when the film will go into production but Brown is currently filming the fourth season of Stranger Things. We’ll bring you more updates as wear them.
