The adaptation of the Irish-set psychological thriller novel The Wonder will be Florence Pugh’s next project, it’s been revealed.
Florence Pugh seems to have an uncanny knack for choosing projects that add significant cachet to what is an increasingly-impressive career. Pugh has yet to put a foot wrong and so it’s always interesting to see what project she chooses next. With Black Widow, a Marvel blockbuster set to release in June and a role in Don’t Worry Darling, Olivia Wilde’s follow-up to Booksmart, Pugh already has some interesting projects on the horizon.
Now though, she has committed to another interesting project in the form of The Wonder, Sebastian Lelio’s adaptation of the Emma Donoghue’s novel of the same name.
The psychological thriller’s synopsis reads as follows:
An English nurse, Lib Wright, goes to a tiny village to observe what some see as a medical anomaly and others a miracle, that a girl has survived without food for months. Tourists flock to see 11-year-old Anna O’Donnell, and a journalist has come to cover the sensation as two strangers transform each other’s lives in a story of love pitted against evil.
Pugh is also lined up for the lead role in Universal’s The Maid, an adaptation of the Nita Prose novel, although details on that project are scant.
We’ll bring you more news on this one as we hear it, but until then we have Pugh’s turn in Black Widow to look forward to, when it hits cinemas in July.
