As well as Justice League, a reframing of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is coming from director Zack Snyder.
Whilst much of the chatter at the moment surrounding filmmaker Zack Snyder is to do with his incoming cut of the
Justice League movie from 2017 (Snyder’s four hour version of that debuts next month), he’s also been doing a bit of work on one of his earlier films.
As has been hinted at in the best, Snyder has gone back again to 2016’s
Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, and has been working to restore the IMAX aspect ratio.
That IMAX ratio is 1.43:1, whereas the disc release of the film has been presented in 2.40:1. Snyder though,
chatting to I Minutemen, has confirmed that the work on the film has now been completed. He’s hinted very heavily that the film will be getting another physical media release too.
āBlu-ray, 4K. I just approved the Blu-ray box the other day”, he said in the interview. “So it for sure will exist on Blu-ray, and then I think it will exist on HBO Max … for sure weāve been talking about the release. Itās meant to ā especially for the special edition ā it’s to replace the one that was kind of messed up a little bit. The Blu-ray, I think, was okay”.
He then basically clarifies that the 4K version was the one that he felt was “messed up”. āI remember watching it on Apple movies or wherever it was, or somewhere, and going ‘wait, what? Thatās not correct … the reds were all blocked up, it was really weird”.
No word yet on just when this new working of the film will be released, but if it’s been signed off, Warner Bros is likely to want to cash in on the impending Snyder fever.
More as we hear it.
