The popular Paranormal Activity franchise will return in March of next year, itās now been confirmed ā more here.
It looks like thereās life yet in the successful
Paranormal Activity franchise yet, following news this weekend that the series is getting a reimagining. It will return to us following what is being described as an āunexpected retoolingā.
Whilst weāre not quite sure how to decode that phrased PR jargon (maybe the terms ārebootā, āremakeā and āreimaginingā are simply passé now?) we have been told to expect the series to continue with its found footage format, where events are recorded on CCTV cameras, mobile phone cameras and such like.
The creative duo behind the new film consists of Will Eubank, who will helm the film, and Christopher Landon.
We last saw Eubank direct Kristen Stewart in the rather good thriller
Underwater, whilst Landon, who will write the script, is a
Paranormal Activity veteran with four films in the franchise to his name already. Heās also directed the
Happy Death Day films and the more recent
Freaky. Writer and director of the original
Paranormal Activity, Oren Peli is onboard to produce, along with Jason Blum.
The new version of
Paranormal Activity is due to land in March 2022. If it can spark anywhere near the interest of the original film, which, thanks to a series of very shrewd marketing ploys, became one of the most profitable films of all time, then all involved will be happy indeed.
Weāll bring you more on this one as we hear it⦠especially once weāve figured out what an āunexpected retoolingā is.
