The Spamalot movie is back on at a new home

After Disney dropped the project, the big screen take on the musical Spamalot is now back up and running at Paramount – details here. One of the projects that 20^th Century Fox was developing back when it was still, well, 20^th Century Fox was a big screen version of the hit musical Spamalot. Based on the work of Monty Python (and specifically the film Monty Python And The Holy Grail) and penned by Eric Idle, the show has toured the world and been a huge stage hit. But unfortunately, when Disney acquired Fox, the film was one of the projects that suddenly lost its home. But it’s now found a new home. Paramount Pictures has picked the movie up, and it finally looks as if it’s full steam ahead. Eric Idle and Dan Junks have penned the screenplay to the movie, and Paramount has now hired Casey Nicholaw to direct the film. Nicholaw was choreography on the origin stage production, and also worked on shows such as The Book Of Mormon and Aladdin. No official start date for the movie has been announced, but the hope is now to get the film going at some point this year. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more about that.
