Dog Man is heading to the movies

Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man series of books are heading to the big screen, courtesy of Dreamworks – more details here. The work of author Dav Pilkey has already jumped to the big screen before, with the superb and underappreciated Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie released a few years’ back by DreamWorks. Sadly, it didn’t do enough business to warrant a second epic movie, but a Netflix TV series has since picked up the mantle. Now, DreamWorks is back in the Dav Pilkey business on the big screen though. Under its new owners (Universal), DreamWorks has picked up the screen rights to Pilkey’s Dog Man series of books, which have sold over 35 million copies across the series to date. Dog Man is a superhero, and the very funny graphic novels will be heading to the screen under the stewardship of Peter Hasting. He’s set to direct the movie, having previous written for The Epic Tales Of Captain Underpants and Animaniacs. The film is likely a few years away, but we’ll keep you posted as we hear more about it.
