Firestarter. Deadline is reporting tha
t Zac Efron has been announced for the project, but as of yet no other casting is known.
Previously announced as director is Keith Thomas, whose debut feature,
The Vigil, is in cinemas at the moment, marking an electrifying entrance into the horror genre. It’s certainly an interesting creative team so far, with Scott Teems – writer of
Halloween Kills – working on the screenplay.
The plot of
Firestarter revolves around a young girl with pyrokinetic abilities that she struggles to control. Her father tries to protect her as a shadowy government agency seeks to ensnare them both.
The original film starred Drew Barrymore and released in 1984. King’s work is enjoying something of a renaissance at the moment and
Firestarter marks yet another project of his coming to fruition. More news on the progress of this one as we have it.
