The 1996 windy weather movie Twister is the latest to line up for the Hollywood reboot/remake treatment.
Not many people forecast this. In Hollywood’s never-ending quest to recycle lots of its old material, the latest movie to be identified for the reboot/remake treatment is the 1996 windy flick, Twister.
The original movie saw Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt chasing tornadoes, and also a cow flying across the screen. And it was a huge, huge hit. Director Jan De Bont was coming off Speed (the film) when he was hired to make the movie, and it came from the pen of Michael Crichton.
The new version is being set up at Universal, and this time Joseph Kosinski is in line to direct. He’s been making Top Gun: Maverick most recently, and also has TRON: Legacy and Oblivion amongst his credits.
It’s early days for the project, that thus far is on the lookout for writers. It’s unclear yet the exact direction the new film will be taking, just that the project is an active one. Frank Marshall is producing.
