Adrian McKinty’s novel The Chain has been snapped up for movie adaptation, with Jane Goldman set to adapt the book and Edgar Wright directing.
When he’d completed work on Baby Driver, filmmaker Edgar Wright had said that he was looking to leave a little less room between projects, and make films a little more often. Since then, he’s been working on Last Night In Soho, which has been shot and is in post-production for release next April.
Now though comes news of another project to add to his slate: the big screen adaptation of the acclaimed novel The Chain. The book has been penned by Adrian McKinty, and it sells the story of a woman who discovers her 11-year old has been kidnapped. The only way to get her back? To kidnap another child, an ongoing chain of kidnappings that’s been burning up the bestseller charts.
There’d been chat of a film for a little while now, but a deal has now been announced that sees Universal Pictures picking up an option on the novel. It’ll be adapted for the screen by Jane Goldman, and Wright directing. Nira Park, Salerno, Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan are set to be amongst the project’s producers.
No timescales as of yet, but as we hear more on the project, we’ll let you know. The book, at the time of writing, is on offer for Kindle users at Amazon, here.
