Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 to start back up in September

Production is set to get underway on Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 again this coming autumn. In a further sign that Hollywood productions are getting back down to business, it’s been revealed that production on the next two Mission: Impossible movies will get back up and running in the autumn. The new films, starring Tom Cruise whilst written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, are shooting back to back. And several weeks of production was underway before lockdown ensued. Chatting to Variety, one of the films’ ensemble – Simon Pegg – confirmed that the plan was to start filming again in September. He said that the outdoor scenes would be done first, adding “That feels fairly doable, and obviously there will be precautions put in place”. As for indoor scenes, or sequences that involve people hitting each other, for instance? “People that are involved in any close proximity stuff, it will have to be determined that they’re safe to do that. I don’t know what the testing situation is, how that works, or whether they’ll be able to be tested regularly”, Pegg added. Mission: Impossible 7 is currently set for release in the UK on November 19^th 2021.
